email - Re: Photos of Halfdan

Hi Kayrn and Duane,

Yes, Halfdan is a very handsome little fellow. His colors prompt a lot of admiration. He has a wonderful gait too. We don't show our dogs but as you can tell, we do compete with them in AKC Earthdog. Both Maggie and our late Fingal earned Earthdog titles and we have high hopes for Halfdan. Even if dogs are not successful in Earthdog, they still have a lot of fun going through the tunnels after rats, and that's the main thing - that they enjoy the game. If/when he earns a title, we'll be sure to send you copies of the certificate.
Halfdan's favorite play is to chase a ball while pushing at it with a Nylabone in his mouth - it is so cute! We call it bone-ball. He can do it hours. We'll send good thoughts your way that the fires don't get any closer. It would be dreadful to have to evacuate.

email - photos of Halfdan

Hi Karyn and Duane,

Here are a few new photos of Halfdan. What a sweetheart he is! Last weekend he participated in his first AKC Earthdog trial. He didn't pass, of course, but at 7 months old, he's barely old enough to "play" so it's all a learning experience. We'll keep you updated on his progress. Are you affected by the wildfires? It appears from the tiny little maps in the newspaper that they are close to you.

We hope you all are safe and OK.

email - Re: Maggie

Kayrn,

Maggie got her summer hair cut last week. I was afraid of the cheat grass/seeds! You can really see the brindle in her short hair. I posted a picture on Facebook. She is going to obedience class now. The instructors told me that the only reason terriers go to class is to train their owners!!!!!!!! She is doing better and not barking at all the other dogs as much.
I take the dogs walking every morning for 1 1/2 miles. We go along a major street in town but with a wide shoulder. Maggie doesn’t like the log trucks so I am using the time when one goes by to teach her to “stop and sit” and then I pet her to reassure her. She has really been a joy to both of us.
